Back in January, when the world was….. hmmm….relatively normal, I wanted to start writing more product reviews. I felt like all I did back then was talk about my nightlife (which I am missing terribly) and I wanted to branch out a bit. Well, it has taken me some time, but I have finally spent some cash and bought some goodies to try out. *newwwww toyysss, woohoooo*
My current collection of BDSM toys is not extensive, but they are things I absolutely adore and are of the very best quality – which does mean, unfortunately, that they have cost me quite a bit. BDSM is still very niche, so the best stuff is usually handmade. Saying that, I do believe that as more people are getting into it (do I really have to thank 50 shades for this?) the quality of mainstream products are actually increasing.
So for this ‘episode’ I wanted to try a starter kit. Mainly because I was after some soft wrist cuffs as the ones I have already have a bit of a ‘bite’ and sometimes I just want to have a nicer scene. So after some search, I decided to buy the Black Fantasy Secret Pleasure Chest by Uberkinky:

This is what I would call an introduction kit to bondage/sensation play. In the kit you get:
- 10-meter bondage rope
- Ball gag
- Handcuffs
- Ankle cuffs
- Bondage Blindfold
- Spanking paddle
- Flogger
- Fluffy tickler
- BDSM Collar with leash
- Nipple clamps
The box costs £44 but I have seen in cheaper at a certain online store that sells everything, however I am all for supporting sexy brands, so I was okay with paying a bit more. Now, for the money this is a fantastic kit. Some things for me were a total write off, but if you are starting fresh, then this is more than perfect. Basically, ditch the horrid handcuffs from Ann Summer and get this. You will thank me latter.
The bondage rope is really soft and the perfect width as it goes through the cuff’s hoops easy enough so you can cuff your partner and then use the rope to tie them up. The rope is not the strongest, so this is just for some light knot work.
The ball gag is plastic which makes it a no-go for me as there is no worse feeling that biting into hard plastic (and it can be dangerous) but again, if all you are new and your scene is on the gentler side then this will be perfect. Silicone gags are perfect for when you know you are going to be doing some serious biting (aka, when my OH is holding his flogger!)
The cuffs and the BDSM collar are the stars in this pack and they are easily worth more than the entire box. Made of really soft leather with a furry inside, these feel soooo good against the skin! And they have a buckle closing rather than the velcro ones I sometimes see which I am not keen on. They are also a good size and will most people. The chain and hook are also really good quality and I can confirm that they will survive a good pull!
The spanking paddle is also very nice. Small enough to control but sturdy enough to have an impact. It is also made of the softest leather. You will not be able to do some serious work with it as it is very light, but again, as a beginner’s toy, it will certainly do the trick (for me is the perfect warm up tool).
The nipple clamps are cute enough, as they have a bell attached so they make a noise when I move around. They are adjustable too which is always a plus.
Now on to the bits I found useless. The flogger. That went straight in the bin. It is a few strands of nasty cheap leather put together. You can’t be sensual or tough with it. For an intro kit I would expect some soft suede straps or very soft/flexible leather. This was neither. Run it against skin and it feels scratchy, try to use it with some force, and does f#ck all. In the bin, like I said.
The leash for the collar is also useless. I broke it within the first tug, so that is all you need to know. You want a leash? Go online and buy a dog leash, no kidding. They are cheaper than the ‘BDSM’ ones and a lot better.
The fluffy tickler – okay this is just me, but it is way too corny for me. I am sure most people love it, and if you are blindfolded it would feel nice, but it is too 80s love scene for me.
The blindfold is okay. I have a bit of an obsession with blindfolds so I have A LOT of them, so I know a good one when I see it. Like with the flogger, the leather is too rough and the inside material does not cover enough of the blindfold so you end up feeling the hard edges of the leather. But if this is your first blindfold, then it will do the job.
So, as you can see, a real mixed bag of items but overall well worth the money. It all comes in a cute box as well which makes it the perfect storage. Overall I like this kit and I am glad I got them, just for the cuffs and collar alone.
I am now in the lookout for a more advance kit box…let’s the search commence!
