I am lighter!

If you think this post is about me losing weight, you are wrong (unfortunately!) as this is going to be about hair.

A very important event is taking place in my life in about 5 weeks and I wanted a big change for the occasion. So what better than to go lighter? Well, there are a million other things you can do to transform yourself but hair is a goo place to start.

Here is my hair today, fresh from the hairdressers:

I basically had balayage done all over my hair ala Kim Kardashian but not as extreme as hers (have you seen how dry her hair is nowadays, not for me!!). My natural hair colour is black but I have been dying it chocolate brown for what seems forever, but I wanted a bit of a change. I didn’t want traditional highlights as the re-growth is impossible to tackle by myself (I like to keep expensive hair appointments as sparse as possible) and I have never been fan of strike-type colour in my hair.

My actual hair colour looks much lighter than in the above picture, but it has been raining all day and the sun refuses to make an appearance so this is as good as you are going to get today. The entire process took about 3hours but that is because a junior stylist blew dried my hair and she was a bit slow.  The colourist chose a warm honey colour which works perfect with my current skin colour and even more when I have tan; she also concentrated the colour around my face to give my hair some dimension. In terms of damage, I can say that it was not as bad as expected. When I had foils in the past my hair felt like paper and so dry but this time my hair feels how it felt before. Having said that, I have been prep my hair for about 3 weeks now, giving it bi-weekly coconut oil masks and lathering it with more oils, like argan and Moroccan oil.

Honestly, I totally recommend this approach rather than the more abrasive ombre which I have had it in the past and totally destroyed my hair. If you want to go lighter but without damaging your hair too much and without wanting to be platinum blonde overnight, I recommend balayage.

My next hair appointment is in 4 weeks as ideally I want to be a little bit lighter…and then its HOLIDAY TIME!!!

Until Next Time!!
