I have been thinking about writing this post for a while, but I always feel like I don’t have the correct words to express my thoughts correctly, hence the delay in this post.
However, after much thought, I came to realise that the more I think about it, the less likely I would be to write the actual post. So with this thought in mind, here I am, laptop in front and CSI on (nothing beats a late night CSI night!)
So recently I have been thinking about our journey to reach happiness, that is, our pursuit of happiness. We spend much of our childhood in education, so that in adulthood we can have ‘amazing’ careers and, ultimately, be happy. However, the more people I talk to, the more I realise that this path does not bring happiness at all. Instead, it brings false expectations, shatter dreams, anxiety and unnecessary stress.
So, how can we reach happiness? I personally believe that happiness is not about the goal but the path we follow to reach it, and that ultimately, the goal does not exist, just the path. I believe happiness is about kindness and life at peace with one self. Each day is an opportunity to do anything you want, so whether you want to start painting or play the violin, the only think that is stopping you, is you.
Which leads to my second point which is your career. You will spend the biggest part of your life working unless you are lucky enough to have the financial strength not to, so make sure you do something you love. I know it is easier said than done, but trust me, it will change your life. Find your passion, and make it your career.
Basically, what I am trying to say is that life is too short and we should enjoy every minute and not worry about the small details in life. I live in a big city, where people are constantly stressed and loosing their mind, so it would be nice, if for one day only, people in this big city were kind to each other and actually look at the bigger picture. Only then, you will begin your path to happiness.
