This is a bit of a random post, but recently I have been battling the inner female in me. If you haven’t noticed yet, we live in a men’s world, and whereas I know this will be the case for many millennia to come, I still find it infuriating how inferior and useless our roles are seen as.
I have always believed that it is our extreme complexity that make us ‘weaker’ than men. We need to constantly battle our mental strength with our ability to very extremely emotional and empathetic. Men, on the other hand, are simple creatures, all testosterone and muscle and emotionless. They have the ‘dominant-gene’ and they are show-off’s…basically, they are American (calm down Americans, you know I am just kidding!) However, in all honesty, how can we blame men for this inferiority if we only have ourselves to blame?
I have always believed that is women’s inability to accept other women which has always got in our way to success; at the end of the day, power is easier achieved in numbers. So, what made us this adamant to compete and beat other women? What I firstly notice is the media; racks and racks of magazines completely destroying female celebs, while admiring the male counterpart. Then I think of when I was in high school, and the ‘popular guys’ playing smart tricks on a few chicks, which meant girls were literally competing over a few douche bags. Now that I think of it, all my life I have been competing against a fellow sister. Even in my all-girls-school days, I was always encouraged to beat the smarter girl in the class, or to be more popular, or do the biggest birthday parties. Who encouraged this? My teachers and my parents! Unconsciously obviously, but the damage was done regardless.
Sometimes I like to image a world where the power roles are switched, and I get a nice warm feeling. I do not believe in equality; we are too different. I feel that is like comparing bananas with potatoes; what is the point? I know that there will be always a power imbalance, and I am more than fine with it. What I would like to see is women being strong enough to shout ENOUGH! and unite and really take control. That doesn’t mean you have to abandon your dreams of a family and become a Spartan, but is about having it all, truly everything that you wish to have. If you want a family, that is fine, if you want to rule the word, that is fine too.
I feel women need to stop feeling that they must settle down, marry, bear children and spend the rest of their lives catering for others. I believe that if you want to follow that path, then do it for the right reasons; not because that is ‘what we are suppose to do’.
At the end of the day, all I am trying to say is that we need a revolution. Women like Rosa Parks did not put their lives in danger so that we can lie back and let men still walk over us. It is time to remind them that without us, they wouldn’t be here.
Until Next Time
